I won the big ribbon for "Best of Show" for my pen and ink picture of Magnolias at the Chilhowie Apple Festival, 2004. The picture is going to be used in my school's art calendar.

Pictured below are some selections from my art collection that I specifically liked and wanted to share.

2004, Colored Pencil

The teacher and girls in this picture were inspired by a Christmas figurine and also the children's book "Madeline."

dreaming-of-oz.jpg

"Dreaming of Oz", 2005, Acrylic on Canvas
This painting is supposed to be comparing Dorothy's black and white life on a dreary, dustbowl Kansas farm to the brilliant, colorful, and vibrant land of Oz she travels to. The bluebirds in the black and white sky in the Kansas scene are symbolic to the song Dorothy sings called "Over the Rainbow.", and are supposed to represent the verse "Somewhere over the rainbow, bluebirds fly..."

back-in-kansas-again.jpg
"THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE HOME" 2004, Pencil

onthebeach.jpg

"Boy on the beach"
2004, Acrylic on Canvas

Painting with acrylic is one of my favorite mediums to work with. This painting is one of the ones that I enjoyed doing and was the first time that I attempted to paint the ocean. (I apologize for the glare on the picture; the gloss on the paint made it shine.)

e-city.jpg
"Look...Emerald City is closer and more prettier than ever."

"The Emerald City"
2004, Acrylic on Canvas

The famous foursome dance up the yellow brick road to the dazzling Emerald City to meet the wonderful Wizard of Oz.

picnic.jpg

"The Picnic", 2003, Pencil on paper
This painting was shown at the art show in town. Although it did not win a ribbon, everyone still admired it and did the same with my other exhibits.

todays-lesson.jpg
Do good, do good, there's ever a way, a way where there's ever a will...

"Today's Lesson"
2004, Pencil on paper

This picture is a scene from my school's production of the musical "Wagon Wheels West." It shows the schoolteacher, Minerva Springwell (played by my friend Tasha Rich), taking her students out for a walk while they recite their lesson.

rabbithole.jpg
Down, down, down. Would the fall ever come to an end?

"Down the Rabbit Hole", 2004, Pencil on Paper
This picture is probably recognized by everyone as the classic scene of Alice falling into the rabbit hole from Lewis Carroll's novel, "Alice in Wonderland."

...nothing is impossible...
